Cancellation Policy

1. Overview

Your Cyprus Holiday is a booking platform that connects guests with property owners and managers in Cyprus. Each property listed on the Platform has its own cancellation policy, which is set by the Host (property owner or manager) and displayed on the listing page and during the booking process.

It is your responsibility to review and understand the specific cancellation policy for your chosen property before confirming a booking. The cancellation terms applicable to your booking are those displayed at the time of booking confirmation.

2. Guest Cancellations

Hosts may offer one of the following cancellation policies for their properties. The applicable policy is clearly stated on each listing:

2.1 Flexible Cancellation

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the check-in date. Full refund provided.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before check-in: no refund for the first night. Remaining nights are refunded.

2.2 Moderate Cancellation

  • Free cancellation up to 7 days before the check-in date. Full refund provided.
  • Cancellations made between 7 days and 24 hours before check-in: 50% refund of the total booking amount.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before check-in or no-shows: no refund.

2.3 Strict Cancellation

  • Free cancellation up to 14 days before the check-in date. Full refund provided.
  • Cancellations made between 14 days and 7 days before check-in: 50% refund of the total booking amount.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before check-in or no-shows: no refund.

2.4 Non-Refundable

  • The booking is non-refundable from the moment of confirmation.
  • Non-refundable bookings are typically offered at a discounted rate.

3. Host Cancellations

We strongly discourage Hosts from cancelling confirmed bookings. Host-initiated cancellations cause significant inconvenience to guests and undermine trust in the Platform. If a Host cancels a confirmed booking:

  • The guest will receive a full refund of the booking amount, regardless of the cancellation policy.
  • The Host may face penalties, including reduced visibility in search results, a cancellation record displayed on their listing, and potential suspension from the Platform.
  • Your Cyprus Holiday will make reasonable efforts to assist the guest in finding alternative accommodation, but is not obligated to do so.

Hosts are expected to keep their availability calendar up to date to prevent the need for cancellations. For more details, see our Host Agreement.

4. Refund Process

When a refund is due under the applicable cancellation policy:

  • Refunds are processed to the original payment method used for the booking (credit card, debit card, etc.).
  • Refund processing typically takes 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Your Cyprus Holiday processes refunds within 48 hours; the remaining time is attributable to the payment provider and your financial institution.
  • The refund amount is calculated based on the cancellation policy applicable to the booking, as displayed at the time of booking confirmation.
  • The 5% platform commission is refunded proportionally with the guest's refund.

5. Force Majeure and Exceptional Circumstances

In exceptional circumstances beyond the reasonable control of either party, including but not limited to natural disasters, severe weather events, government-imposed travel restrictions, epidemics or pandemics, acts of war or terrorism, or civil unrest, the standard cancellation terms may be modified.

In such cases, Your Cyprus Holiday may, at its sole discretion:

  • Offer full refunds or travel credits to affected guests, regardless of the Host's standard cancellation policy.
  • Waive cancellation penalties for Hosts whose properties are directly affected.
  • Facilitate rebooking for alternative dates.

Decisions regarding force majeure claims are made on a case-by-case basis at our discretion. We will communicate any policy adjustments during exceptional circumstances through the Platform and via email.

6. How to Cancel a Booking

To cancel a booking, you can:

  1. Log in to your Your Cyprus Holiday account and navigate to “My Bookings”.
  2. Select the booking you wish to cancel.
  3. Click “Cancel Booking” and confirm your cancellation.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email with details of any applicable refund.
